The Hunter Montessori School in New Hartford is looking for
naturalist-teachers and/or master gardeners or other enthusiasts of the
outdoors to work in and outside of a classroom with a group of seven
motivated students, ages 11-13. The number of hours per week and the
scheduling are flexible. The work with the students would be an integral
part of their science curriculum, which emphasizes the
interconnectedness of all the physical, biological, chemical, geological
and ecological sciences. Lessons could cover soil science, geology,
botany, climatology, energy, hydrology, etc. The goal is to connect the
children first-hand to the natural world and to guide them toward an
understanding of, and appreciation for, careful stewardship of the
